Walter O'Brien, Scorpion Computer Services founder and real-life inspiration behind the hit CBS-TV series "Scorpion", spoke at the 9th University of California, San Diego Entrepreneur Challenge on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013.

The Entrepreneur Challenge is a UCSD Student Organization that promotes the icommercialization of UCSD research and innovation. They focus on start-ups from the inception phase to the early seed-stage with the goal of giving teams the confidence and resources necessary to launch a successful company that otherwise might not exist.

This sponsored event fosters community involvement and technological innovation by bringing multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and business-minded students together with noted entrepreneurs and professionals in order to shape the world of tomorrow by securing the health of San Diego's economy today.

To assist teams on their startup, Entrepreneur Challenge uses a building block approach with six key components: "Inspire, team-build, educate, mentor, connect, and award."

Walter O'Brien is a life-long advocate of education and entrepreneurship who dedicates his time and energy toward institutions and causes that contribute to a greater good. He hopes that sharing his particular successes with Scorpion Computing Services and ConciergeUp.com will help entrepreneurs on their path to creating their own ground-breaking, life-changing businesses.

"As software engineers trained to turn ambiguity into absolutes and fuzzy requirements into ones and zeros, we had a 'eureka' moment when we realized that our training had broader, real-world applications," said O'Brien. "After decades of mastering processes to solve 'any technical problem,' we launched ConciergeUp.com when we discovered that the same discipline could be applied to 'any life problem.'"
